Twelve lottery prizes were claimed during the 110th National Day Celebrations in Haa yesterday.
The most coveted prize, Yanmar power tiller with rotary tiller, plough, trailer, paddy wheel and an adaptor worth about Nu 362,687, went to Pema Wangchuk from Trashiyangtse.
The 26-year-old had come from Thimphu to organise the event in Haa.
A farmer from Katsho, Wangchuk, took home a mini tiller with accessories “I am thrilled. It would benefit and assist me in my work as farmer.”
Gyem Tshering from Sama got a chaff cutter.
Lomba year was memorable for Chencho Bidha, a civil servant with economic affairs ministry, who was home to celebrate the New Year with her family. She got a dual heater that can run on either fuel or electricity.
She said: “This will come handy in Thimphu and I’m happy beyond measure.”
Renuka Tamang from Samtse, who works with a private early childcare and development centre in Changzamtog, came for a different purpose but just got lucky. She is a proud owner of a jersey cow and a calf.
“It took me by surprise because I had never won a lottery in my life. To win it on such an occasion is a very special,” she said.
Phurpa Wangmo from Jabana got an electric churner. “ I am really excited and happy. I sure will make good use of it.”
