Tertons lead the table

Football: With six wins from seven games, FC Terton entered the second round of the Yanmar Thimphu Premier League with a commanding 18 points lead at the top of the table.

All seven participating teams have completed the first six games in the tournament. FC Terton, Dzongrig FC, Thimphu City and Thimphu FC have played seven games as of yesterday.

A month after the Yanmar Thimphu Primer League kicked off at the Changlimithang stadium, FC Tertons are leading the table with 18 points after seven games followed by Thimphu City FC with 14 points. With six more games left, defending champions Druk United FC are in third with 13 points.

Thimphu City FC defeated Thimphu FC by a lone goal in the second game of the second round of the tournament yesterday.  On Sunday, FC Tertons defeated Dzongrig FC 2-0 in their first game of the second round.

Meanwhile, Bhutan Football Federation will be starting the B Division League from June 2. A total of 11 clubs are taking part in the tournament.

At the end of the B League, four teams, the last two from the A division and the top two from the B division will play in a relegation promotion match. Each club will play three games and at the end of the league round, the top two teams will move into the A division while the other two will be relegated to the B division.

Last year the Under-19 national football team were relegated into the B division and Thimphu FC, which was called FC Rigsum then, moved into the A division of the tournament.
