The best three women and five men would be selected for a national team
Starting next week, Bhutan Archery Federation would conduct an archery coaching camp for youth between 16 and 23 years in four districts to select a national archery team.
General secretary Tshewang Rinchen said this is the first time an archery camp would be organised in various parts of the country. “There are no requirements of experience or educational qualification and interested men and women can participate,” he said.
BAF officials would coach the participants and teach basic skills to handle the bow and arrow. Tshewang Rinchen said all participants are going to learn on recurve bow and carbon arrow. BAF would provide food and lodging during the camp.
The shortlisted candidates will meet in Thimphu in Langjophaka centre to compete after which BAF officials would select the best three women and five men to form a national archery team.
For eastern districts, the coaching camp will be conducted in Trashigang from January 15-20. From January 22 to 26 the camp will be held in Gelephu and from January 28 to February 1 the camp will be held in Phuntsholing. The last camp will be conducted in Thimphu from February 3 to 8.
