Ball Blasters, the women’s volleyball team from Trongsa, defeated team Trashigang Sports Association in the finals of the first Women’s open volleyball championship at Changlingmithang, Thimphu yesterday.

The final saw Ball Blasters win first two sets 25-22 and 25-14. Trashigang Sports Association won the third set to extend the match for a fourth set. The former won the fourth set 25-17 to win the championship.

With a total of 20 teams participating, the championship received the highest number of teams in all tournaments organised by Bhutan Volleyball Federation across the country to date.

The champions, Ball Blasters took home a cash prize Nu 35,000 with certificates. Trashigang Sports Association won Nu 25,000 with certificates. The winners also won trophies.

Karma Choki from team IMSL was named the most valuable player of the tournament.  The championship was played over three days.
