A 44-year-old man was brought to the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital (JDWNRH) in Thimphu yesterday after he was attacked by a bear.

He was referred to JDWNRH from Gidakom hospital.

Health officials said that on reaching JDWNRH, the patient was taken to the Operation Theatre (OT) immediately.

He had lost three fingers on his left hand.

Hospital officials said that apart from some bruises on the body, the patient had not sustained any serious injury . Doctors say the patient’s condition is stable.

The patient was kept at the OT for about 93 minutes. He was then taken to the orthopaedic ward.
