His Majesty the King, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and senior
government officials joined a large crowd which gathered at the
Trashichhodzong for a special ceremony conducted by His Holiness the Je
Khenpo and more than 100 monks on June 30, to celebrate the birth
anniversary of Guru Rinpoche.Hundreds of devotees received blessings from sacred images of Kutsab Ternga
(five symbols of Guru Rinpoche) and Lhacham Pemasel’s Utheo (skull of an
eight year-old daughter of King Thritsong Detsin).
The clergy conducted the Guru Dragpoi Choga, Tshogkhor and Soeldep Leuduenma
(all dedicated to Guru Rimpoche) and offered thousands of butter lamps in
front of the Guru Lhakhang at Trashichhodzong.
According to the deputy secretary of the Dratshang Lhentshog, Ngawang
Phuntsho, this special ceremony, initiated by His Holiness, will be annual
event on this sacred occasion.
