Chief Advisor to the Interim Government, Chief Justice Tshering Wangchuk and the Bhutanese delegation arrived in the country on October 7 after attending the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly.

On 28th September 2018, chief advisor addressed the General Assembly. He also attended several high-level events, including the Bloomberg Global Business Forum, and held several bilateral meetings with senior officials of the United Nations, including the United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres.

Established in 1945 under the Charter of the United Nations, the General Assembly occupies a central position as the chief deliberative, policy-making and representative organ of the United Nations. Comprising all 193 Members of the United Nations, it provides a unique forum for multilateral discussion of the full spectrum of international issues covered by the Charter. It also plays a significant role in the process of standard-setting and the codification of international law.

On October 1, chief advisor met with the Bhutanese community in New York and hosted a dinner for them. Appointment of Karma Tshosar as the Consul General was also announced.
