Charity: 54-year old Gumandoj Subba and his family (wife and two children) from Sunkosh Gaon in Tsirang have been living in a makeshift house for last five years.  Very soon, however, they will get a new and stronger house.

Rangthaling gewog is seeking help from a businessman in Tsirang.  The office of Bhutan National Bank and gewog officials have amassed some donations to construct a single-storey house for Gumandoj and his family.

The gewog officials have asked people in Sunkosh to voluntarily contribute labour for construction of the house.

Gewog officials and volunteers last Sunday went to Sunkosh Gaon.  The officials carried CGI sheets for the construction.

Gewog administrative officer Lobzang Choda said that he managed to collect Nu 5,500 from BNB officials, Nu 3,000 from CT mart in Tsirang, and Nu 8,000 from gewog officials.

“With the money collected from the donors, we bought three bundles of CGI sheets and other necessities,” he said.

Rangthaling gup Bal Bahadur Tamang told Kuensel that priority was first given to Gumandoj as he suffers from some disability and doesn’t own good arable land. Gumandoj is also the sole earner in the family.

“If we get financial support from the people, we have another family that needs our help,” gup said.

The volunteers, who came to help in constructing Gumandoj’s house said they got satisfaction being useful to people who needed help.

“With large number of volunteers, it takes less than a week to construct a single-storey house using the bamboo that is available in the village,” a volunteer said.
