Crime: A 32-year-old man was murdered around 2.40pm yesterday above the sports ground of Yangchenphug Higher Secondary School.

The deceased was at his aunt’s house with her three children and having lunch when the 27-year-old suspect showed up.

One of the eyewitnesses, a class-two student said an argument ensued between the two after the suspect had scolded her for looking at him bang the table. The suspect then took out a knife from his back and started to stab the deceased. Two stab injuries were found on the body.

One of the boys then ran to the traffic police office and reported the incident around 2:45pm. The girl said that her other brother had tried to call their grandmother, who is the ground’s caretaker when the suspect warned them not to call anyone. “He said he will kill my brother if he called anyone,” said the girl.

Traffic police officials were sent to the site and by then the man was already dead. Police caught the suspect while he was trying to flee from the scene.

The deceased and the suspect are cousins. The deceased is the caretaker’s nephew and by profession, a goldsmith. The suspect is unemployed and has past convicted records of battery and possession of illegal substances.
