Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) swept Mongar yesterday by winning in all three constituencies on both electoral voting machine (EVM) and postal ballot votes.

Of the 23,541 EVM and postal voters who voted in the three constituencies, DPT won the highest, 10,782 votes. Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT) came second with 6,192 votes. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) came third with 4,645 votes while Bhutan Kuen-Nyam Party (BKP) won 1,922 votes.

From the 12,897 EVM votes the people of Mongar cast yesterday, DPT won 6,084, PDP 3,005, DNT 2,793 votes and BKP 1,015 votes.

Mongar received 10,644 postal ballots in the three constituencies. Of these, DPT received 4698 postal votes, DNT 3,399; PDP 1,640 votes and BKP 907.

In Mongar constituency, DPT won 1,243 postal votes, DNT 1,226, PDP 690 and BKP 306. On EVM, DPT won 1,358 votes, PDP 1,355, DNT 830 and BKP 278.

In Kengkhar_Weringla constituency, DPT bagged 1,738 postal votes, DNT 1332, PDP 444 and BKP 217. On EVM, DPT won 1,749 votes, DNT 960, PDP 512, and BKP 268 votes.

DPT won 1717 postal votes in Drametse-Ngatshang constituency while DNT secured 841, PDP 506 and BKP 384 votes. On EVM, DPT received 2,977 votes; PDP 1,138 votes, DNT 1,003 and BKP 469 votes.

Mongar has total of 34,589 registered voters, 17,966 female and 16,623 male.

The dzongkhag election office deployed more than 600 polling officials to its 76 polling stations.

Meanwhile, a voter, Wangchuk Lhamo, 32, who came from Paro to cast vote her vote in Thridangbi village in Saling gewog, said the journey is not an issue when it comes to voting.
