A 32-year-old man, who was hit by a falling boulder on a farm road to Baikunza village in Bongo gewog, Chukha, on June 17 morning, is recovering at the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital (JDWNRH) in Thimphu.

The man was evacuated to Gedu hospital via India and referred to JDWNRH.

The incident happened when a group of villagers had gone to Pipin village to attend an inaugural ceremony of a bridge launch over Wangchhu by the home minister on June 16.

Bongo gup and Chukha dzongkhag tshogdu chairman, Tshering Nidup, said the villagers had stayed the night at Pipin as it was late.

“The next day, the victim had left earlier than others,” the gup said, adding that his wife had called him to come early for household chores.

The gup said he and a team had carried the victim and transported him until Gedu hospital.
