Beats Thimphu FC after coming from 2 goals down

Football: In a dramatic comeback, FC Terton defeated Thimphu City FC 3-2 to retain their top position in the ongoing Yanmar Thimphu Premier League yesterday.

After Thimphu City’s mid-fielder, Passang Tshering, scored two goals in the first five minutes of each half, FC Terton were trailing by two goals till the 65th minute. However, 20 minutes into the second half, FC Tertons’ striker Diwash Subba pulled one back getting themselves into the contest.

Terton strike partner, Ngawang Dhendup then scored a brace completing the comeback and taking themselves closer to the championship. FC Terton has won eight of the nine games they have played so far.

With three more games left in the tournament for FC Tertons, they have a decisive lead in the table with 24 points.

Thimphu City FC who is in the second place with 17 points could have brought the point deficit to just one had they won the match yesterday. City looked more focused in the first half of the game with maximum ball possession.

But in the second half, they became more aggressive, attacking with most of the players in the front leaving their defense exposed to counter-attacks. FC Terton made the best of the situation and capitalised on it.

Meanwhile, basement boys, Dzongrig FC suffered their 9th defeat when Thimphu FC beat them 2-0 on Wednesday.

Dzongrig FC has not won a single game and has conceded 46 goals in nine matches. They scored six.

Striker Chencho Gyeltshen of Thimphu FC scored the first goal in added minute of the first half. Tenzin Thinley doubled their lead in the starting minute of the second half.

With the win, Thimphu FC moved to third place on goal difference. Druk United is fourth with 16 points.
