Three teams mathematically possible to win the title

BoB League: Three teams will go down to the wire to decide who will win the Bank of Bhutan national league and Nu 1 million with it.

League leader Thimphu City with 20 points will have to win the final match against FC Terton, who are themselves at 19 points, to secure the title. Should they draw and Thimphu FC, at 18 points beat Paro United FC, the title will go to Thimphu FC.

On the paper, Thimphu FC looks the favourite to surprise the two teams in front of them in the table, as they will be playing a weaker Paro United, sitting at the bottom of the league table. However, the chances are out of their hand as they will have to depend on the result between City and Terton.

The final game will kick off tomorrow at 2 pm with Thimphu FC taking on Paro United FC.

The absence of City’s two key players, Passang Tshering and Karma Shedrup Tshering in the final game will be a blow to the team. But manager Hishey Tshering is optimistic that his young players will rise to the occasion.

Hishey Tshering said that the whole tournament has been a roller coaster ride for all the teams. “I really cannot predict the outcome but like everyone else, we’re hopeful to win,” he said. “At the end all we need is the players to give their best. May the best team win.”

Thimphu FC owner Yiwang Pindarica said that since it is the last game of the tournament for the team, they will be playing their best football and end the league with a win. The manager also sent a message to the officials while talking about the deciding match. “It’s a crucial match for all. We hope the officials produce a better judgement in the game and avoid controversies,” she said.

Ugyen Academy with 14 points is in the fourth place followed by Bhutan Clearing FC with 4 points.

The two-month long league started in July and is sponsored by the Bank of Bhutan.
