Police in Lhuentse detained four men, aged between 20 and 55, from Gangzur, Lhuentse on November 7 for alleged use of explosives in Kuri River.

It was learnt that forestry officials in Lhuentse apprehended the men around 8pm on November 1 after receiving complaints from local residents.

Forestry officials forwarded the case to police on November 7. Police sources said that the four men, who are farmers, used the explosives for fishing.

It was also learnt that the explosives, which are prohibited, were procured for farm road and gewog centre (GC) road construction.

Police are investigating the case.
