Petrol price in India was slashed by Nu 0.49 per litre and diesel by Nu 1.21 per litre yesterday. Revised rates in Bhutan would be announced today evening and would be effective from midnight today.

Diesel will cost about Nu 48 a litre and petrol Nu 59 a litre in Thimphu after the revision.

This price cut comes on the back of falling international crude price. There were two consecutive hikes in February and March because of appreciating USD against INR. But before that price of petrol had been reduced on 10 occasions since August 2014 and diesel price six times since October 2014.
