A 38-year-old finance officer is among the many that have expressed their intent to contest from Dagana in the upcoming National Council (NC) election.

There are at least 21 NC aspirants from Dagana, one of the highest among all 20 dzongkhags. But the large number of aspirants has not deterred Suraj Pradhan from Majathang, Lhamoizingkha to provide choice to the people.

A citizenship kidu recipient, Suraj Pradhan said he is privileged to be blessed by His Majesty The King with citizenship. “This has provided me with an opportunity to participate in the elections.”

He last worked with Kuensel Corporation Limited as its finance manager.  “I came out of the comfort zone to provide a wider choice for the people and to represent them, as Dagana did not have such choices in the 2013 NC elections.”

Suraj Pradhan claims that he is aware of the issues confronting the dzongkhag.

“Having worked and gained experience in the fields of finance, resource management, administration, information technology, tourism and multinational organisations, I am confident that I would represent the people of Dagana well.”

He claims that he has always been in touch with whatever is happening in Dagana. “Even if I was not there, I kept in constant touch with the people and through media.”

Suraj Pradhan has a Bachelors (Honours) degree in Commerce from Sherubtse and a Masters degree in business administration from Gaeddu College of Business Studies.

As a desuup, he said, he has been serving the country and contributing through volunteerism in community activities. “I am patient, hardworking, result-oriented and a multi-tasker.”

“I can be a bridge between the people and the government as I intend to take their concerns regularly to the House. Moreover, I am an accumulator and not a divider,” he said.

“I would like to join the people and not divide them. Let us be unique in the world and lead with best practices,” he added.
