3 July, 2009 - Three days after the trade department announced a minimal drop in fuel price, the price of petrol has increased by around Nu 3.70 and diesel by about Nu 1.97.
The new price will come into effect from today.

2 July, 2009 - Bhutanese women have found a novel use for condoms.
They believe that male condom lubricants have cosmetic benefits, and can also be used as a softener for thread while weaving.
Karma Dem, who runs Karma medical store in Changangkha, Thimphu, said women come to her shop to buy flavoured condoms. Each packet of condoms, containing three pieces, for instance Moods, cost Nu 20.

1 July, 2009 - Starting today, cost of petrol will drop from Nu 38.53 to Nu 38.25 per litre and diesel to Nu 30.76 from Nu 30.97.
The prices were revised following a recent review of the pricing structure of petroleum products in the country by the economic affairs ministry.

Human-wildlife conflict unresolved

1 July, 2009 - With an increasing incidence of human-wildlife conflict, the first question hour session of the third National Assembly discussed this old and protracted issue again.
Member of parliament (MP) from Sibsoo constituency in Samtse, Durga Prasad Chhetri, informed the house how an elephant had killed a 75-year-old woman in Sibsoo on Monday. Also, an elephant destroyed a man’s house on the same night in Hangey village.
