What cant you live without?
1st essay 14 August, 2009 – What I cant live without?? Well there are a lot of things in my life that I feel I cannot live without, like my clothes, my ipod, my mobile phone, my laptop, my parents, books, etc. But when I really give it a lot of thought, it seems that the one thing I wouldnt be able to live without would be Love. I believe that if there is no love, there is no life. The ever-green feeling of LOVE is what makes the world go round. And I am not only talking about the romantic love. I am talking about the love parents have for their children, the love one has for ones pets, the love that one has for ones siblings, the love that is present everywhere. As George Sand said, There is only one happiness in life, to love and to be loved.
Nowadays, with the focus on gaining only materialistic things, people have no time to shower love on their loved ones, but I am sure that every one in this world has experienced love, because loves language is universal.
Love to me is very important. I see it in the way my mom cooks food for me, the way she stays up late at night when I am out, the way she is always ready to listen and help. I see her love in the way she irons my clothes and keeps it ready to wear the next day. I see it in the way my dad cooks for me when mom is not around, the way he lowers the TV volume when I am studying. I see it in the way, my sister gives me her favourite pair of jeans because I like it, the way she allows me to use her most favourite perfume, the way she sometimes sketches for me, the way she washes my clothes without any complaints. I see love in the way my friends are always with me, ready to help, to share a tear or laughter, to support and to be with me. I see love, when I go to hospitals, and see aged ladies sitting patiently beside their ailing husbands. I see love, when a dog comes with a bounce to greet its master, when he arrives home. There is love present when you can just go to your best friend (be it your mom or dad, your brother or sister, or a friend) and pour out your heart and you can trust them to just listen and accept the way you are. There is love in acceptance. I believe that we can live without anything in the world, but we cannot survive without human affection.
Love is palpable when you see a parent gently guiding their mentally unstable child around the town. There is also love and concern in the teacher when she sees that her students havent done their work and scolds them. I see love in reconciliation with a long lost friend. The love and warmth and care that a patients near and dear ones provide, help him heal faster.
When I do things for people, it is because I want to do it for them. I feel that you can only go out of your way to help people when you have the emotion of love alive in your heart. The miracles that occur in peoples lives are because of love. Where there is love, there is hope and where there is hope, there is life. I really believe in the force of attraction. The more love you give people, the more love people will have for you. And the best part is that, there is always enough to go around.
I see love in the way God has given us freedom to choose our lives and make the most out of it. There is love in the rising of the sun, in the way the wind blows producing cooling effect on a hot day. There is love in the chirping of the birds and the formation of the clouds, in the rain that pours down and in the way everything is balanced in nature. The way the flowers bloom and the fragrance that spreads makes you feel that it is love that makes the world go round. I feel natures love for its inhabitants when I see the rainbow, the beautiful waterfalls, the serene lakes, the snowfalls, the stars and the moon. And the fact that no matter where and no matter what, there is always a place for each individual in this beautiful world. Love is a canvas furnished by nature and embroidered by imagination. (Voltaire)
Because they want the world to be a better place to live in and they love the world so much, many rich people make anonymous donations. I see love in the way people have come up with various NGOs to help the poor. There is also love in the heart that has empathy and sympathy for strangers, and in the heart that is ever ready to help others. And one figure that loved all was Mother Teresa. She is known all over the world for her humanity. She did not distribute wealth but she gave people the one thing everyone craves for love, and she created history by sharing with and showering people with that one emotion everyone is born with but some choose not to realize it. Let me put it in Barbara De Angelis way, Love and kindness are never wasted. They always make a difference. They bless the ones who receive them, and they bless you, the giver.
Love has always been present in the world; be it for your lover, your parents, your friends, your pets or God. It is the one emotion we all can relate to. I would like to finish off with a verse from the Bible (I Corinthians), which means a lot to me and sums up all that I feel:
Love is patient, love is kind.
It doesnt envy, it doesnt boast, it is not proud.
It is not easily angered; it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love doesnt delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.

1st poetry The moment I stepped into the world,
I felt a feeble touch from you,
You went inside me,
And there my life begins.
Curiosity passed me,
What you are so invisible,
I want you till last,
For if you are gone, Im too gone,
Stay a while, I need you,
So does everyone too.
My childhood asked me,
What you are that I cant live without?
And the guess went on,
On and on it struck,
When I felt you, though omnipotent,
I saw you, though invisible,
I heard you, though silent,
Uh! Good AIR Ive known you,
You are the one I cant live without.
