Thimphu police apprehended a 33-year-old man from Thim throm for alleged child molestation after the mother of the two-year-eight-month old child lodged a complaint to police.

According to police, the child’s parents were engaged in some urgent work and had asked the suspect to pick up their daughter from one of the early childcare centres (ECCD) in Thimphu on September 15.

Police said the suspect dropped the child home in the evening, where she narrated an incident of what the uncle did to her. “The parents then took the child to the hospital and informed the police.”

Police arrested the suspect the same night but he denied the allegations. “Medical report indicates some genital injuries.”
