Phuentsholing police has detained a 30-year-old man for involuntarily murdering a man, his friend on July 28.

The incident occurred in Chongeykha, Phuentsholing gewog when the duo got into a brawl while under the influence of alcohol.

Although the deceased was found alive until the next morning, he succumbed to head injuries later at Gedu hospital.

Chongeykha is 20km away from Ganglakha. Sources say the accused and the deceased are from Darla gewog, Chukha. Eyewitnesses said the two were last seen in a bar. Both were drunk when they left the shop.

Meanwhile, sources said the accused has confessed to the crime but claimed that it was unintentional. The accused had told police that he had hit the deceased with a stone during a brawl and left the place.

Friends of Police volunteers informed police. As per law, an involuntary manslaughter is a fourth degree felony.
