Crime: A 26-year-old man was found dead near the Thimphu thromde office on January 2.

Police identified the deceased as a former radio jockey from one of the private radio stations in Thimphu. He was from Lalikharka village in Tsirang. He was residing with his family at Changzamtog, Thimphu.

A traffic policeman on duty reported the incident to the city branch around 1:00 pm on the same day.

Deputy chief of police, Col. Dorji Wangchuk, said that apart from a blunt injury at the back of the deceased’s head, no other indications were found.

“We are not sure if it is a case of murder or just an accidental death,” he said. “We couldn’t trace any indications suggesting it to be a case of murder.”

Col. Dorji Wangchuk said that some of the acquaintances of the deceased informed them that he was under the influence of alcohol. Sources also pointed out that prior to his death, the deceased was found loitering around with his friends.

The body of the deceased was handed over to his family members on the same day it was found.

Officials said that the case is under investigation.
