Tax payment is made more convenient, as a new feature is added in the mBoB facility, a mobile app of the Bank of Bhutan (BoB).

A press release from the BoB stated that tax payers can now easily pay their taxes through mBoB after generating the Deposit Voucher (DV) number from RAMIS. RAMIS generates a DV number, if the tax is payable. After the Tax payers’ submit the details of the DV on MboB, taxpayer name, payable amount and TPN will be fetched from the system of Depratment of Reveneue and customs (DRC), RAMIS. Customers will receive an onscreen message, SMS and email notification with transaction details.

This new facility to pay taxes is in addition to tax payment via BoB’s Internet Banking introduced a few years ago in collaboration with the DRC.

This move, BoB’s Chief Executive Officer, Pema Nadik said, will make paying taxes much easier and also encourage tax payers to pay their taxes on time. “Tax payment through mBoB will save time and money for both taxpayers and the DRC,” said the CEO.

The new service was launched on August 15 by the finance secretary, Nim Dorji.
