A 17-year-old boy committed suicide in Tsirangtoed yesterday. Local leaders found his body below his house.

It was learnt that it had been sometime since the deceased refused to go back to Samtse Dratshang, where he served as a monk until last year. After his parents separated, he was staying with his grandparents and two younger siblings in Zomnya village, Tsirangtoed.

Although his parents had divorced, an investigation team found that there was no dispute at home and no history of such incident in the past. Police ruled out foul play.

The investigation team comprising of police and health officials suspect depression as the possible cause of suicide.
