Starting tomorrow, B-Mobile users, who have their accounts with the Bhutan National Bank can recharge their phones and transfer money through their cellphones using a new service called “B-Wallet.”
The service would allow B- mobile users to “top-up” their phone balance and transfer money from one account to another in BNB.
Bhutan Telecom’s marketing and connections manager Sangay Wangdi said this service would eradicate the hassle of looking for vouchers or e-load it as well as the visit to the bank for fund transfers.’ “An Internet connection on your phone is not needed to avail B-Wallet service,” he said.
The service is for free and available round the clock. Bhutan Telecom would also work with other banks on B-Wallet to reach a wider audience.
In another six months, Bhutan Telecom will also incorporate utility payments in the B-Wallet service to help customers pay their water or electricity bills through their cellphones.
B-Wallet service registration would be available initially in Thimphu, Paro Wangduephodrang, Phuentsholing, Gomtu, Trongsa, Gelephu, Bumthang, Damphu, Samdrup Jongkhar, Trashigang and Mongar.
