28 February, 2007 - His Holiness the 70th Je Khenpo,
Trulku Jigme Chhoeda, is
making his longest spiritual tour of about two months in central and eastern Bhutan beginning tomorrow.
His Holiness leaves Puna Dewachhenpoi Phodrang tomorrow through Gelephu to conduct a two-week Wang-Lung-Thri (blessing, oral transmission and admonition) ceremony in Zhemgang. The 16th Kathri ceremony by His Holiness begins from March 4 with Thrinchel, a religious ceremony to seek help from protecting deities to overcome any obstacles during the admonition ceremony which is scheduled to conclude on March 21 with thanks giving offering to protecting deities, Goenpoi Tongtshog.
After the ceremony in Zhemgang, His Holiness will visit the Kuenphen Yoeseling in Gyalpoizhing, Mongar on March 25 where he will preside over the Badza Guru Dungdrup.
His Holiness will conduct two Moenlam Chhenmo (great prayer ceremony) in Pema Gatshel and Trashiyangtse. Second Moenlam Chhenmo in Pema Gatshel will begin from March 30.
On his way to Trashigang on April 5, His Holiness will consecrate the newly constructed chorten in Kanglung and conduct the blessings in Trashigang.
While in Trashiyangtse His Holiness will preside over the fourth Moenlam Chhenmo which is scheduled to begin on April 10 at Chorten Kora.
His Holiness will also visit Namdreling in Autsho, Lhuentse. On April 23, His Holiness will consecrate the newly constructed eastern regional referral hospital complex in Mongar.
The 54-day religious tour will complete on April 24 when His Holiness returns to the dratshang’s winter headquarters, Puna Dewachhenpoi Phodrang.
According to a spokesperson of Council for Religious Affairs (Dratshang Lhentshog), His Holiness’s religious tour is expected to reaffirm and strengthen the spiritual faith of the people and promote Buddha dharma in the country.
