In the last few years, Phuentsholing town has seen increasing number of hotels. This, many feel, would have adverse affect to hoteliers in the long run.

Many residential buildings in the core area of the bordering town have been renovated and transformed into budget hotels in the last two years. Today, there are few more old buildings being renovated to hotels.
