A 58-year-old man from Dangdung in Langthel, Trongsa died of excessive bleeding after a moving tipper truck hit him on May 20 near Setikharey in Gelephu. He died at the Gelephu Regional Referral Hospital.

The deceased was travelling to Zhemgang from Gelephu in a taxi when the mishap occurred. He had asked the driver to stop the car to buy water from a shop located on the other side of the road. The truck hit him when he was crossing the road.

The 26-year old truck driver with help from passersby rushed the man to Gelephu hospital but died soon after he was brought in, according to police sources.

“The doctor on duty said the patient was brought with excessive bleeding from nose and ear and had low pulse rate,” the police report states. Police sources said the truck was not over speeding but that the deceased had crossed the road suddenly.  An investigation will be carried out and the truck driver is in police custody.
