"My grandfather also served the people as chimi and gup and thatıs one reason why people have faith in me," he said.
Sonam Dorji said that he is very grateful to the people of Dagana for their support. "At their trust I have won the race and now I'm at their service," he said.
Dagana dzongkhag has 14 gewogs with a mixed population of lhotshampas, ngalops, khengpas and a number of resettled people. Out of the 16,906 registered voters only 9,909 voted at
43 polling stations.
Sonam Dorji also got the highest votes from the postal ballots with 58 votes.
