"I was confident that people would give me their precious vote," said Jigme Rinzin who won a landslide victory in the first parliamentary National Council
from Pemagatshel dzongkhag.
"Instead of getting nervous I was more excited when voting began," said the 37-year-old new councillor to the National Council.
Jigme Rinzin expressed his gratitude to the people of 11 gewogs of the dzongkhag for their support, and confidence in him to serve them for the next five years.
He said that he was surprised to see that his family was not excited when he was declared as the winner.
"It seems my family members are not aware that I have a greater role to play for the country and the people," Jigme Rinzin said.
