"I am relaxed and relieved now. My hard-work for the past few months has finally paid off," said Karma Donnen Wangdi, 37, Sarpang's choice for councillor.
He looked calm as his relatives poured in to congratulate him on his victory.
He said that he won because he gained the trust of the people and that they understood him. "I was expecting him to win, I wasnıt nervous," said his wife Kalpana Humagai.
"Itıs not time yet to celebrate because there are lots more to be done."
