A victory for women
"I am extremely happy that the people of Kheng chose me," said Pema Lhamo, 44, who won by a landslide victory in the NC election on Monday.
"It is not only a victory for me but also for the women of Bhutan."
Pema Lhamo said that she was confident of winning from the very start because of the person she is and because she was well known in Kheng.
"I will remember the faces of the people of Kheng and the difficult life they live when I am seated in the council and although we have no direct authority over development programmes I will try and remind the government of the needs for roads in Zhemgang."
