The nine-day Thukjechenpo Muensel Droenme Drubchen at Yuedrongchhoeling dzong in Langthel, Trongsa concluded yesterday with a Tshewang for the public and Marme Moenlam (Prayer of butter lamp offering) in the evening. Thousands of devotees came to receive the blessing.

The 11th Lhalung Sungtrul Rinpoche, Jigdrel Kunzang Pema Dorji presided over the drubchen along with some 70 monks from Tamzhing and Yuedrongchhoeling Dratshangs. The drubchen was held at the courtyard of the dzong due to space constraint inside the dzong.

Peling Machen Zimpoen of Yuedrongchhoeling Dratshang, Pema Sherab said the Thukjechenpo Muensel Droenme (Avaloketesvara prayers) is one of the three important teachings of Pema Lingpa that were discovered as treasures. “Pema Lingpa had discovered this treasure of teaching from Tangrimochen in Tang gewog, Bumthang at the age of 28,” he said.

He said the drubchen is conducted at Yuedrongchhoeling dzong because Pema Lingpa’s Kumardung resides here. Sungtrul Rinpoche, who presided over the drubchen is also the reincarnation (speech son) of Pemalingpa.

Pema Sherab said the drubchen is conducted to appease local deities who may have been disturbed by the activities carried out by Mangdechu Hydroelectro Project Authority (MHPA). “It is also done for peace and prosperity in the country,” he said.

Residents said the same drubchen was conducted inside the dzong for three years about nine years ago. Of the three reincarnations of Pema Linga, Gangtey Trulku Rinpoche (body son) presided over the first, Sungtrul Rinpoche presided over the second and the late Thuksey Rinpoche (heart son) conducted the third. It was discontinued there after.

Pema Sherab said two persons organised the drubchen this year. Hundreds of people, including locals and the MHPA employees attended the drubchen everyday.
