The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) last week charged a 23-year-old man from Jaigaon, India for alleged larceny and possession of controlled substances.

OAG prosecutor Phuntsho Namgyal told Phuentsholing drungkhag court that the accused was arrested after police received a report that he had robbed two Indian tourists from a hotel in Phuentsholing.

Phuentsholing police arrested the man that evening and found 27 Spasmo Prozyvon capsules on him.

He told police that he had bought the contraband from Jaigaon for personal consumption.

In his statement to police, he dropped four Indian tourists to a hotel in the town. On the request of one of the tourists, the accused bought some cigarettes. But he went into a wrong room. It was empty and he took Nu 7,000 and a spectacle. He entered another room and stole Nu 5,000.

Police also recovered the money and the spectacles and returned them to the owners.

A rapid test showed that he had abused the controlled substance.
