OAG appeals for compensation to underage rape victims

The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) appealed to the High Court’s (HC) larger bench last week against the judgement rendered by the HC’s bench II that refused compensation to underage rape victims.

OAG appealed to HC after Thimphu dzongkhag court’s bench I sentenced truck driver Dorji Wangchuk to 10 years in prison for attempting to rape an 11-year-old girl and raped a 15-year-old girl several times but did not mention anything about compensating the victims.
