Friendship: The Bhutan Society of the United Kingdom, one of the oldest friendship societies for Bhutan in Europe, organised its annual dinner at the historic Charterhouse in London on October 21, according to a foreign affairs press release.

The dinner was attended by over 80 members of the society including 17 Bhutanese students and residents in the United Kingdom.

The society which has over 400 registered members, include friends of Bhutan who have been associated with Bhutan for many decades as well as younger members who are interested in Bhutan. Sir Simon Bowes Lyon KCVO is the president of the society and Michael Rutland OBE is the founder and chairman.

Ambassador Pema Choden attended the event and talked about important developments in Bhutan in the last one year and also highlighted the historical and contemporary relationship between Bhutan and the United Kingdom which was further strengthened by the Royal Visit of Duke of Duchess of Cambridge to Bhutan in April 2016 and the Chevening scholarships.

Ambassador Pema Choden also met Bhutanese students and residents in the UK and hosted a dinner for them.
