To commemorate the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence, the Indian Embassy in Thimphu organised a virtual conference on the contribution of Assam in India’s freedom struggle, connectivities and synergies between Assam and Bhutan.

Speaking at the conference, Economic Affairs Minister Loknath Sharma said: “India is the closest neighbour of Bhutan, not merely because of sharing a common border; we share everything–thoughts and beliefs. The people of two countries have forged their friendship over centuries.”

India Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj said, “Assam is a key Indian state with whom Bhutan shares close ties from historical, trade, and tourism perspectives.”
