Diplomacy: Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay left for Luxembourg, yesterday.

He is visiting the country at the invitation of Prime Minister Xavier Bettel of Luxembourg.

This will the first high-level visit to Luxembourg after diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 2011.

During the visit, Lyonchoen will call on Grand Duke Henri and meet with Prime Minister Xavier Bettel. They are expected to discuss ways to further strengthen relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Luxembourg has one of the strongest economies in Europe and is driven by highly specialised sectors, the most important being banking, it is pointed out in a cabinet press release.

From Luxembourg, Lyonchoen will travel to the USA where he will lead the Bhutanese delegation to the UN Sustainable Development Summit and the 70th regular session of the UN general assembly.

In New York, Lyonchoen will participate in a number of high-level panel discussions and events and hold bilateral meetings with partner countries and UN agencies.

Lyonchoen will address the plenary of the summit on September 25.

The foreign affairs minister, Damcho Dorji is accompanying Lyonchoen and will participate in the general debate of the 70th session of the UN general assembly.
