Lyonchoen Tshering Tobgay, who is on a visit to the gewogs of Bumthang, stressed to the people on the importance of healthcare, sanitation, maintaining and ensuring access to clean drinking water supply.

In educating the children, Lyonchoen reiterated that teachers must commit to teach well while parents must encourage their children to excel in their studies.

To reduce dependency on firewood, Lyonchoen advised the people to use electric appliances. For a family of 5-7 people, the 100 units of free electricity, is enough to cover the costs incurred in using an electric rice cooker, water boiler, curry cooker, mobile phone and lighting four bulbs.

To increase agricultural productivity, he encouraged farmers to make proper use of power tillers, electric fences, green houses, farm shops and farmers’ outreach banking services.

Informing the people on government performance and management system, Lyonchoen said that the performance agreements signed between him and the dzongdags would help the dzongkhags accomplish specific targets by fast-tracking developmental activities.

He requested the people to work hard and do their part in bringing about progress and development.

As per the instructions of the Prime Minister, a minister is to look after two dzongkhags in addition to shouldering their assigned responsibilities.

Finance minister Namgay Dorji, who is responsible for Trongsa and Bumthang dzongkhags, joined the Prime Minister to various gewog meetings in Bumthang.

To date, Lyonchoen has visited 24 gewogs in Trongsa, Haa, Tsirang and Bumthang.
