Visit: In the ongoing gewog visit, Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay yesterday reminded the people of Damphu thromde, Kilkhorthang and Tsholingkhar gewogs in Tsirang to work hard for the development of the country and in achieving self-sufficiency.

Lyonchoen met with more than 600 people yesterday and informed them that he was visiting gewogs to get the people’s views on the 11th Plan.

“I came here to meet with the people and find out what you think should be included in the Plan so that we can make necessary changes during our mid term review,” he said.

He added that the government is putting in lots of effort for the development of the people.

For example Kilkhorthang gewog is allotted Nu 14 million this fiscal year, which means each of the 410 households is getting Nu 34,000.

“I am sharing this because I want the people to understand how the government is spending for their benefit and development of each gewog,” he said.

When a farmer asked Lyonchoen on the growing unemployment issue, Lyonchoen said that unemployed has increased due to mismatch of jobs and because youth were not willing to take up jobs that the government has provided.

An educated farmer Vijay Kumar of Tsholingkhar gewog said that since farmers are idle during the off farming season, it would be helpful if government could provide them with farm related trainings.

Lyonchoen said the concern raised was genuine and that he would discuss it with the agriculture minister.

Lyonchoen, who is on a four-day visit to Tsirang will be meeting the people of Barshong, Mendrelgang and Patshaling gewogs today.
