Crime: Thimphu police arrested a 24-year-old man from Changzamtog for possession of dried marijuana leaves yesterday.

Police said the man, who also tested positive for drugs, confessed that he brought the marijuana from Phuentsholing.  Along with him, three acquaintances were also tested for drugs, but were found negative.

The police patrolling team were alerted, after two men and two women were heard making a lot of noise in their house, below Druk School in Changzamtog, and disturbing the neighbourhood.  Police said they could also smell marijuana from outside after which they visited the house.  About 104 packets of small and big packets of dried marijuana leaves were recovered from their residence.

Meanwhile, on April 19, Thimphu police followed a 29-year-old man, following a tip-off.  Police caught him from the main town, 2,304 capsules of spasmo-proxyvon and 39 bottles of corex were found on him.

A police officer said that most people, who dealt with controlled substances, were from lower income groups, and that they make a living out of it, owing to the easy money.

Both cases are still under investigation.
