Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay’s delegation arrived in Brussels yesterday for his visit to the European Union at the invitation of the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker.

Lyonchoen had a meeting with the Ambassador and officials of the Royal Bhutan Embassy, Brussels during which he briefed them about the developments in Bhutan and the role of embassy in promoting Bhutan’s interest in Europe.

Lyonchoen then lunched with the Bhutanese community living in Europe.

Lyonchoen then had separate meetings with the Honorary Consuls of Bhutan in Europe and representatives of the Friendship Associations, and with business interest groups in Europe. Lyonchoen also briefed the business representatives on business opportunities in Bhutan and requested them to explore investment opportunities in Bhutan.

In the evening, Ambassador of Bhutan to Belgium and the European Union hosted a Reception for the prime minister’s delegation.

Today, Lyonchoen will meet the Prime Minister of Luxembourg; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for development Cooperation of Belgium; Chairperson of the European Parliament Delegation for relations with the countries of South Asia and the members of the European Parliament; President of the European Council; and the Director of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
