Sangay Tshering, 28, from Tshaluna in Thimphu aspires  to stand for the upcoming National Council (NC) election.

Sangay Tshering holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Royal Thimphu College. He has worked in Phama Trading House and Bhutan Duty Free Limited.

Sangay Tshering said he was content working as a sales executive with Bhutan Duty Free Ltd. “I resigned last month to contest for the NC election this year because I wanted to be a politician.”

He said he wants to bridge communication gap between the government and her people by taking people’s concerns to the government.

“For me, winning or losing doesn’t matter. I decided to join the House of Review because I want to give people more choices,” he said. “If elected, as a youth myself, I can help give direction to other youths like myself to become what they aspire to be.”

He said that although Thimphu is one of the most developed dzongkhags in the country, there are many areas that need improvement, adding that social development, empowering social mobility and curtailing corruption would be his focus.

“I can do my part in nation building by contributing my experience and expertise in legislative formulation,” he said. “My capabilities and predisposition coupled with hard work will allow me to contribute greatly to the dzongkhag’s development.”
