Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen in the best of her health

Royal Birth: A sacred kurim is being simultaneously conducted in dzongs and important monasteries across the country for the well being of His Majesty the King and for the good health of Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen as the nation joyfully awaits the birth of the Gyalsey.

The kurim, Zhabdrung dhagnang sungchoe is being carried out on the instructions of His Holiness the Je Khenpo Trulku Jigme Choeda.

More than 150 monks from Tango shedra conducted the religious ceremony in Tashichhodzong, Thimphu presided by His Holiness the Je Khenpo yesterday.

Central Monk Body’s Tsugla Lopon Samten Dorji said, “The ritual offers prayers to Guru Rinpoche, Tshepamey and Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal specifically for the wellbeing of the monarchs and the Royal family.”

One of the root lamas of the first King, Gongsar Ugyen Wangchuck, Serkong Dorji Chang composed the Zhabdrung dhagnang sungchoe at Kurje, or the cave where Guru Rinpoche left his body print after meditating in Bumthang.

The renowned Tibetan lama had a vision on the birthday of Guru Rinpoche at Kurje where he saw the three, Guru Rinpoche, Tshepamey, and Zhabdrung Rinpoche, and prophesied that if he composed the prayer it would ensure the wellbeing of the King’s lineage in particular and the country at large.

Lopon Samten Dorji said that His Holiness has asked to perform this kurim for this very purpose.

This sacred kurim adds to the prayers and other religious ceremonies being performed in retreat centres, shedras and appeasing local deities in the community temples across the country.

The Tsugla Lopon said preparations are done to begin special kurims in every religious institution as soon as His Royal Highness The Gyalsey is born.

“We have prepared everything for kurims,” the Tsugla Lopon said.
