Dhamngoi zomdu in Orong, Samdrupjongkhar yesterday elected the dzongkhag’s female candidate, Tshelthrim Dukar, 39, for the NC seat.

Tshelthrim Dukar, former HRD officer with BBS, secured 270 ‘yes’ votes against 59 ‘no’ votes.

Martshala gewog elected Ugyen Dorji, 41, with 286 ‘yes’ and 118 ‘no’ votes. Ugen Dorji worked as an Adm. & HR Officer with the AWP, Samtse.

Wangphu chose Kelzang Phuntsho, 36, as the gewog’s nominee for the NC seat. Kelzang Phuntsho worked as an HR & Adm. officer with an IT firm called New Edge Technology. He secured 285 ‘yes’ and 48 ‘no’ votes.

Lauri gewog went with incumbent Jigme Wangchuk who secured 404 votes.

Tshewang Tenzin, 30, a former research officer with National Council Secretariat, is the NC candidate from Serthi. He secured 247 votes.

There are no candidates from Langchenphug, Phuentshogthang, Pemathang, Samrang, Dewathang, and Gomdar.

Dhamngoi zomdu for Dewathang gewog will be held today.  The dzongkhag’s last zomdu will be held for the thromde on March 15.
