Update: An electronic shop at level II of the Shearee Square shopping mall lost all its electronic goods when the mall caught fire yesterday morning around 10:30 am.

The fire also injured two, the shop owner and his son who suffered minor burns. They were rushed immediately to the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital and were discharged and returned home later yesterday. Medical officials said the child has suffered around seven percent burnt on his body. The father suffered minor burns on his back and hands.

The fire was contained within 30 minutes after firefighters from the Royal Bhutan Police (RBP) responded immediately.

Two shops unoccupied space was also damaged. The fire also caused damages to the lift and elevator glass panes. The glass panes, which partitioned the two unoccupied shops, were damaged too.

Elevator, concrete beam and cables on level III also suffered damages from the fire. RBP is investigating the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
