The end of Dhamngoi Zomdu in Trongsa saw three candidates get through the nominations process for the National Council elections.

In the last zomdu that took place in Nubi gewog yesterday, Tashi Samdrup secured a total of 384 ‘yes’ votes against 11 ‘no’. A total of 395 voters turned up for the zomdu that took place in two different locations in Nubi gewog on March 14 and 15.

Tashi Samdrup is a private entrepreneur and served in the forestry sector for about 20 years.

Gyem Dorji was nominated from Drakteng gewog after securing 240 ‘yes’ and 102 ‘no’. About 342 voters turned up for the zomdu in the gewog on March 12.

Gyem Dorji is a former forestry official. He has more than 20 years’ experience in the sector.

Incumbent Tharchin secured 343 ‘yes’ and 43 ‘no’ votes from Langthil gewog. Zomdu took place on March 9.

There were no candidates from the thromde and two gewogs of Korphu and Tangsibji.

During the Dhamngoi Zomdu for Trongsa Throm, only 20 voters turned up. In Korphu, voter turnout during the zomdu was 80. Tangsibji saw voter turnout of 150.

A total of 1,373 voters in Trongsa turned up for the Dhamngoi Zomdu that began on March 2.
