Thromde: “Trongsa is the centre and junction for East and Western parts of the country. People from all walks of life pass by, and it’s important to turn it in to a clean and green town,” said Ugyen Dorji, the first thrompon candidate for Trongsa Thromde.
Ugyen Dorji, born and brought up in Trongsa town, claims to understand the difficulties, problems and opportunities of Trongsa town.
The thrompon candidate, who was on his way from Thimphu to Trongsa yesterday said it is an opportunity to serve his town community with the experience and knowledge he has.
He said that the waste problem, unplanned activities, poor drinking water, geological conditions, absence of proper drainage and landscapes of the town inspired him to contest for the Thrompon’s post.
“People in the town have also encouraged me to contest for the Thrompon’s post,” said Ugyen Dorji, who returned to the country from Australia three weeks ago.
Ugyen Dorji’s aim is to initiate and improve the local area plan for expanding construction approvals. “But for will require conducting a geological, which will determine what could be done,” he said.
