Samdrupcholing out-post police in Samdrupjongkhar detained the two suspects involved in cannabis smuggling in Assam, India after they were handed over along with the seized items by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) yesterday. 

The SSB at the border out-post in Samrang in Samdrupjongkhar along the Indo-Bhutan border in Udalguri in Assam apprehended the suspects when they were trying to smuggle the cannabis on August 18.

The SSB has seized about 35kgs of cannabis from the suspects along with their bolero pick-up.

The investigating officer said the suspects had collected the cannabis from Martsala in Samdrupcholing, Samdrupjongkhar, and sold at Nu 2,700 a kilogram. Dimakuchi police handed over the suspects to Samdrupcholing police.

An official said it was learnt that Dimakuchi police are also on the look out for the buyers in Assam.Of the two suspects, a 36-year-old man is from Martsala and the 38-year-old from Ngatshang, Mongar.
