Wangdue police detained two men aged 39 and 45 for the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl.

According to police, the third suspect who is currently out of station will reach Wangdue tomorrow. The men are employees of the Punatsangchhu Hydropower Project Authority in Wangdue.

The class VIII student lives with her aunt in Wangdue.

According to the aunt’s statement to police, the girl complained of stomach ache. When the girl complained of stomach ache for the second time, the aunt used a pregnancy test kit to check if the girl was pregnant.

“The aunt said that the test result was negative,” a police official said.

The aunt reported the case to police after the girl again complained of stomach ache. She was sent for a medical examination, which revealed that she was more than seven months pregnant.

The police official said that the school administration and police investigated the case following which the duo, a fireman and a security personnel of PHPA were arrested on August 27.

The official said that both men denied the allegations.
