Inauguration: Her Royal Highness Princess Chimi Yangzom Wangchuck inaugurated the Vocational Skills Development Centre for spouses of the Armed Force personnel, at Dechencholing. Their Royal Highnesses the Princesses Sonam Dechan Wangchuck, Dechen Yangzom Wangchuck, and Kesang Choden Wangchuck graced the inauguration. The Prime Minister and senior government officials were also present.

The Vocational Skills Development Centre was built by Project HOPE. Project HOPE, initiated by His Majesty The King, works for the welfare of the armed force personnel and their families.

The multipurpose structures have a tailoring unit, baking and cooking unit, and spaces for Non Formal Education classes and tutorials for the children. The spouses of the armed force personnel received trainings in tailoring, baking, cooking, and hairdressing with the support of Project HOPE. The Project aims to conducts a total of 66 more such trainings, and support the spouses of armed force personnel to enhance their livelihoods.

Multipurpose halls similar to the one inaugurated today have also been built at the Royal Bhutan Police Headquarters in Thimphu and RBA Wing IX at Lodrai in Gelephu. After assessing the experience and outcome of the structures, three more will be developed at Sipsoo, Damthang, and Dewathang.
